Singapore’s Coffee Connoisseur, a symphony of taste?
Expect to be surprised with Singapore. It may be a small island, but its location and cultural backgrounds has produced an innovative, creative, and exotic approach to life. Whatever you do, eat, or try in Singapore, there is every possibility that your thinking will be challenged–unknowingly.
As a city with an international reputation for its cuisine, Singapore has recently extended that one step further to include caffeine, with a series of boutique cafes under the label “The Coffee Connoisseur”.
TCC cafes reside around the trendy hubs of Singapore city. Each cafe has its own signature decor, but shares the art of taking a simple beverage and transforming it into a mouthwatering delight.
I stumbled upon TCC on my first day in Singapore. First impressions were mixed as these cafes appear to hold no real charm or character; more sterile contemporary, with a love of reflection, and good art.

Each cafe acts as a haven from the heat and a saviour from the noise outside luring in tourists, fashionistas, and business suits.

Quietly complimenting the cafe style is the beverage menu. There is much more to TCC’s coffee experience than meets the eye.
Coffee with nutella, matcha tea, and for the adventurous– rose syrup – are just a sample of what’s on offer.

Named the ‘Perfect Match’ a latte combination of sickly sweet rose and subtle bitter coffee. A symphony of taste? I will leave that up to you.
I asked for a double espresso shot which gave me just the right amount of coffee. It did end up being too sweet towards the end. Not recommended for diabetics, weight conscious fanatics; or budget travellers. TCC’s coffees come with a price, add an extra shot and you have one expensive drink.
Hard core coffee drinkers or refined coffee-nistas don’t have to suffer the fancy drinks. A wide range of espresso and filter blends are also available.
TCC is a type of cafe I wouldn’t normally visit, but given my curiosity I couldn’t resist. Would I recommend it as a place for serious coffee lovers? You decide.

Beautiful pictures Cate! TCC cafés do have a lovely theme in them, reds, browns and muted yellows.

Are the rose petals edible? The photo is so clear I can smell the coffee.
Yum!
As long as they make good espresso I’ll go
Nicely described and written.
Cheryl Marie – Thanks for the comment! So you are familiar with TCC? They do seem to share a common colour theme. Very cooling for the Singapore heat.
Suzy – They are real petals – dried. The coffee had this really nice subtle rose fragrance coming from under the strong espresso aroma. It took a while to reach my nose, but when it did. Delicious. Can you recommend any good places around Seoul that you love to visit?
Bear – The espresso was more smooth than biting. And thank you for the nice comment.
Elegant looking beverage…
It does look appealing doesn’t it. Not for the hardcore coffee addict though.
great! the coffee looks cool!
