Photo Friday – pots of colour Xi’an
Are the Terracotta Warriors really as old as experts claim, or do they just come from factory, new?
Both are true. Both types are made in China and both are top quality. One thing you can do on route to the genuine site of the warriors, is to take a side trip to the official factory and see how these things are made en-masse. When you’ve finish listening to the well practiced speech from the guide, you can walk around and look at the other ceramics being made, painted and glazed. It’s a potter/ceramic artists haven.
While the Terracotta Warrior statues are a dull brown colour, figurines, tiles and other creations are intricately hand-painted in bright colours. I was taken by these ceramic pots that I took a couple of shots to see how they would look in an image.

That’s a beautiful photo!
Love the color! Very colorful picture!
A simple picture, but beautiful.
What a different perspective with that picture. Actually at first I thought it was a calligraphy class. Great shot!
Photo Friday – Beautiful Lago Amatitlan
Great photo. the repeating shapes accentuated by the bright colors just grab the eye. Beautiful.
Oh! That’s a great photo!
Keep ‘em coming – I’ll be looking forward to seeing more posts from you on Photo Friday (& of course, on other days too!)
Hey everyone, thanks for the comments. I think having a dark background makes the colours pop out more, and it is an unusual photo subject for a travel picture.
I really enjoyed participating in photo Friday. Sorry If I haven’t made it to your site yet but I’ll try to do so before the day ends if not then next week!
Awesome shot! I love the lines and contrasting colors.
Love the color combination in this shot and how the background of the shot sort of fades away–drawing your attention to the foreground.
Great photo! I like the contrasting colors.
beautiful colors
A dark background definitely makes the photo stand out more.
This entry reminds me of when we did pottery in elementary school. Pretty fun. But the result of my ceramics were no where near as beautiful as the ones on the picture above.
Thanks again for the wonderful comments, this shot even appeared on Gadling. Hmm perhaps I should make it into a card or something.
China…master knock-offers. If they can do Terracotta Warriors, they can do Louis Vuitton!
