Venezuelan Chocolatier Romanicos filled with pralines, truffles and sushi
In the world of chocolate, Latino influence predominates discussions on where the best cacao comes from: Ecuadorian and Venezuelan cacao rank high among chocolate connoiseurs, but what about their chocolatiers?
Take a side trip out of Miami city to Coral Gables and along Coral Way Romanicos chocolatier resides. Venuzuelan owned, operated and sourced, this small chocolatier has crafted some interesting blends and designs all about chocolate. Like good chocolatiers, the air permeates with the creamy wonder. During my visit, it was light with hints of cinnamon which left me imagining what lay beyond the red curtains and out of sight.
Japanese influences are found throughout the shop and in the chocolates. Sushi comes in a box, gift wrapped and colorful, samples of Japanese ginger and dark are ready for tasting, and truffles are elegantly served for the graceful chocolate eater among us. On the shelves sit blocks of dark, simply packaged, advertising the range of familiar and unusual blends: wasabi and honey. A combination of flavours and tastes to awaken those untapped taste buds.

Romanicos exudes luxury through its rich interior colours and its mastering of crafted chocolates. Small in size and scale but big on talent and delicious. It’s a place to saunter into away from Miami’s heat: to give yourself a treat or two, adding an espresso on the side for that extra buzz.

Romanicos does offer an online service so, if you need a chocolate fix or want to try something new here is her link: Romanicos Chocolate.
Writing these posts about chocolatiers just makes me incrediby hungry. Enjoy!

My…hand made dark chocolate and an espresso for a pleasant break in the day.
You are fortunate to have found such a place!
Great blog. Miami is a blast and a treasure of great places. There is a superior chocolate lounge called The French Broad Chocolate lounge in Asheville, NC that has the most unique & exotic chocolates & chocolate treats anywhere. A real Chocoholics heaven. Keep up the good work.
Cate,
I’m so glad that it seems Miami is treating you well and that you are also getting your caffeine in chocolate form.
Elegant photos. ~Glad to see they take their chocolate seriously in Miami!
Bear – Chocolate and coffee a perfect start to the day.
TC – Hi welcome and thanks for the tip!
SCS – Thanks! Miami does have a lot to offer beyond bars and nightclubs.
Heather – I think very seriously,I walked past a couple of packed chocolate cafes as well which means I’ll have to go back when it’s quieter.
