    At first we were hesitant to try JD Bakery Cafe since we first saw their cakes and pastry selections but we found out that they serve rice meals. So as a fan of trying the different cured meats in the Philippines, I got this longganisa, egg, and garlic rice, while my husband tried their fried chicken meal.

    There is limited parking at Robinsons Iloilo, but a nice trick is to grab something from Starbucks (which is directly across the parking area, allowing you to use the authorized parking place for Starbucks customers).

    If you’re done with your Gigantes Island tour, one of the best stop over before you head back to the city is Dafalong’s Garden Cafe to try their Chicken Pecho Inasal. Inasal is an Iloilo term for “char grilled” or roasted meat”.

    ✨The cafe is 3 hours away from Iloilo City and people visit it mainly for its beautiful garden. It’s an hour and a half from Bancal Port where Gigante Island tours usually take off.

    ✨Most of the inasal options around Iloilo city are either a food chain or those that serve native chicken. What sets Dafalong’s Garden Cafe is the size of the chicken and the flavorful play of the dish. Nothing too experimental, it just hits the right spot.

    As of writing this inasal plate goes for P205 (for Paa or thigh part) to 215 (for Pecho, or breast part).

    ✅ The meal was homey plus it has a relaxing view of rice ponds and mountains.

    ✅ We actually first noticed the place when we were on our way to the port for our Gigantes Island Tours and noted the name for reference on our way back.

    ✅ We especially loved their landscape of flowers, it was lie a slice of paradise in an unassuming spot hours away from the city.

    We’ve tried a number of places that offers inasal around Iloilo City as we were kind of expecting that maybe since Iloilo is just a boat away from Bacolod (known for chicken inasal), we may find an inasal gem that’s truly worth noting.

    It was only when we check out this place after our Gigantes Islands Tour that we were truly satisfied! Most of the chicken inasal options in the city served native chickens which were small in size.

    It would have been a delight to try those if we weren’t too full on the pasta choices we availed! The serving can be good enough to be shared by two! But it was too delicious that I didn’t share mine. Haha. No regrets though!

    We find the staff at Tightrope Coffee knowledgeable about coffee and passionate about sharing their expertise with customers. But some other customers find them more transactional than interactive. But the thing is, as long as they contribute to the elevation of the food quality of Tightrope, I wouldn’t be one to ask for any conversation other than our transaction.

    Just to be clear, we don’t find it offensive if they would keep to themselves more than other establishments since our blog focuses on the quality and taste of food in relation to its price. We are not about the aesthetics of the plates or plating or the service experience. Of course, we’re not the Michelin guide.

    One potential downside of Tightrope Coffee that customers notice is that the small space can get noisy at times, especially during peak hours. However, this only adds to the cozy and vibrant atmosphere of the café which was further elevated by its brutalist design.
